Loris Scalabrelli

Nature, cycling and sculpture

Loris Scalabrelli

In the Le Esperidi team for 34 years, Loris talks about his bike, the Macchia della Magona and his passion for sculpture.

With my bike I have explored the hill trails: in every season they offer beautiful colours and atmospheres.

Loris was born in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, in Semproniano, and moved as a boy to Rosignano Solvay. He arrived at Le Esperidi in 1988 as a night watchman, during an internship: that experience changed the course of his life.

Today he is one of the resort managers and has three great passions: nature, cycling and sculpture. «My passion for cycling began with the first mountain bikes. I immediately felt a unique sense of freedom».

He knows the Macchia della Magona like the back of his hand: a network of routes among holm oaks, strawberry trees, myrtles, lentisks and junipers, from white gravel roads to the most technical singletrack. On his rides he encounters wild boar, roe deer and buzzards.

Among his works is the Madonna displayed on the altar of the campsite chapel, carved in pietra panchina, the sandstone typical of the Casale Marittimo area.
